The Seymour Panther
The Royal Tudor Beasts Collection is inspired by the ten stone beasts that line the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace. Commissioned by Henry VIII, the heraldic guardians represented the ancestry and legitimacy of the Tudor dynasty and celebrated his marriage to his third wife, Jane Seymour.
The Seymour Panther was one of the royal beasts associated with Jane Seymour. Henry VIII gave the panther to Jane from the royal treasury of beasts, and it is depicted supporting a shield bearing the Seymour Wings.
For the 2026 bullion coin, David Lawrence has created an interpretation of the fierce Seymour Panther statue at Hampton Court Palace.
The reverse also incorporates surface animation, adding both visual detail and an additional security feature.
The final individual Royal Tudor Beast
The 2026 Seymour Panther has particular significance for collectors of The Royal Tudor Beasts bullion series.
It is the tenth release in the collection and the last of the ten beasts to appear individually on a bullion coin, completing the sequence inspired by the historic guardians of Hampton Court Palace.
This makes the coin an attractive option for investors who have been building a Royal Tudor Beasts collection, as well as those looking to buy one ounce gold coins produced by The Royal Mint.
