Washington Eagle 0.25oz Gold Coin
The Washington Eagle 0.25oz Gold Coin is a 2026 gold release honouring George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army and the first President of the United States.
Created to coincide with the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the Washington Eagle celebrates a figure whose life is inseparable from the foundation of the United States.
The coin contains 0.25 troy ounces of .9999 fine gold, carries a $25 denomination and is officially issued under the authority of Ascension Island.
George Washington and the Washington Eagle
George Washington occupies a unique position in American history.
As Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, he played a central role in securing American independence. He subsequently became the country’s first president, serving from 1789 to 1797 and helping establish many of the conventions of the new presidency.
The Washington Eagle brings his image together with the American eagle, creating a design centred upon the birth and early identity of the United States.
Celebrating America’s First President
Washington’s inclusion within a collection marking America’s 250th anniversary has particular historical relevance.
Unlike later presidents, Washington’s story is directly connected to the events surrounding American Independence itself.
From military commander during the Revolution to first President of the United States, Washington became one of the defining figures in transforming the ideals of independence into a functioning nation.
The Washington Eagle commemorates that role in precious metal 250 years after the Declaration of Independence.
