2026 1/4oz Gold Britannia – King Charles III
The 2026 1/4oz Gold Britannia offers the perfect balance between affordability and value for serious investors. Struck in 999.9 fine gold (24 carat) by The Royal Mint, this fractional Britannia carries a £25 face value and features the effigy of King Charles III on the obverse by Martin Jennings.
Smaller than the classic 1oz version but larger than the 1/10oz coin, the quarter ounce Britannia is a popular choice for investors seeking flexibility, liquidity, and lower entry costs – without compromising on the benefits of UK legal tender bullion.
As with all Britannias, the 2026 issue is VAT free and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) exempt in the UK, making it one of the most tax-efficient gold investments available.

Expert Opinion
The quarter ounce Britannia is a sweet spot for investors. It provides more gold weight per pound spent compared to the 1/10oz, yet remains highly tradeable and affordable compared with the 1oz version. It also provides a 24 carat alternative to the similarly sized Gold Sovereign.
For those building a balanced portfolio of gold coins, the 2026 1/4oz Britannia is an excellent choice – offering flexibility, tax efficiency, and the reassurance of The Royal Mint’s quality.
