2025 Six Decades of 007: Bond of the 2000s 1oz Gold Coin

The 2025 Six Decades of 007: Bond of the 2000s 1oz Gold Coin is the fifth release in The Royal Mint’s acclaimed Six Decades of 007 bullion coin series, which celebrates the evolution of James Bond across six decades of cinema.

Design and Theme

This release honours the Bond films of the 2000s, a decade that proved transformative for the franchise. It saw the conclusion of Pierce Brosnan’s tenure with Die Another Day (2002) and ushered in a bold new era with Daniel Craig’s debut in Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008). Craig’s portrayal redefined Bond with a grittier realism, emotional complexity, and a more grounded style of action, bringing 007 into the 21st century.

The reverse design highlights the hovercraft from the explosive opening of Die Another Day. Its inclusion pays tribute to the spectacular action sequences and cutting-edge stunts that defined the decade, while symbolising the franchise’s ability to evolve with time. The obverse features the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings.
