Elton John

Elton John is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, selling over 300 million records worldwide, spanning a period of over 50 years. It is therefore no surprise that he has been included in this collection of iconic British recording artists.

The Reverse

Elton John is as renowned for his enigmatic performances, flamboyant outfits as he is for the numerous awards he has won.  The coin designer, Bradley Morgan Johnson, has taken inspiration from one of Elton’s most iconic looks, from the ‘I’m still standing’ music video, the straw boater hat, striped bow tie and musical notes as glasses, on a background of the Union Jack flag.  The design also features the name Elton John with a star in each of the letter O’s.

The Obverse

The obverse of the coin features the image of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
